Todd Nuckols continued
After completing an internship at GATF Todd taught printing at West Virginia University Institute of Technology. That’s where he met his wife, Christa, who also has a degree in Printing Management. Todd joined Crouser & Associates in 2000, as the company was developing what is now known as CPrint. He was a senior consultant and in charge of selling the CPrint program around the country. He was named CPrint Vice President in 2004. Todd developed the CPrint Business-to-Business Sales Training program and the CSR Training program.
“My plan and my mission for CPrint are quite straightforward”, Todd said. “The principals that this program has been built upon must be protected. For the last 24 years Tom Crouser handled this duty and showed that once implemented the principals would not only change businesses, but change families. And today we even see it change generations as businesses are passed to sons and daughters who now have a chance to achieve the great American dream.”
Todd feels that his job is also to continually improve the CPrint program. “As our industry evolves we must also evolve,” he said. “We can’t forget that we are in the graphic communications business and that includes ink on paper. But, it involves so much more. It will be the task of CPrint to bring these new advancements to our Affiliates so they will always be ahead of their fellow competitors.”
Tom Crouser continued
For the last 52 years Tom Crouser has been a printer. It all started when he learned how to run a letterpress in junior high school. Shortly he had his own print shop operating out of his parent’s basement. Then the church needed someone to print the bulletin. Tom moved into offset by learning how to run the churches’ Multi 1250. He kept his fingers in the business (he has a scar to prove it) when he headed off to college. And in 1966 he founded his print shop, Three Printers, in Charleston, WV.
It was a great time for Tom. He said, “I was able to work with my family. Dad helped out, Mom was the secretary and Tom Jr. and Edward did bindery work.” While running the shops Tom received his accounting degree and an MBA. He was very active in industry associations such as PIA and NAQP. Tom started writing for Quick Printing magazine in 1976 and continues his column to this day.
The people Tom met needed help with their print shops. They asked Tom for that help. It happened so often that in 1985 Tom started Crouser & Associates, the consulting company. In 1986 he sold the print shops and jumped into consultiing full time. Tom has kept the CPrint affiliates years ahead of competitors in many areas. He advised companies to have web sites long before it became popular and said portals (Gateways™ to you CPrinters) were a necessary sales tool before most people knew there was such a thing. Looking into the future is something that Tom plans to continue.
Tom’s retirement isn’t a time to slow down. He’s wanted to explore other kinds of consulting for other kinds of companies for one thing. His mind is full of ideas and you can bet we’ll be hearing from Tom. Pushing us, prodding us and teaching us well into the future.
