Glen Klimczak Voted
CPrint® PM of Year

Votes from his peers, CPrint® production managers from across the country, made Glen Klimczak, Model Printing Service, Alpena, Michigan, CPrint® Production Manager of the Year. In a close vote at the annual Production Training Conference in Jacksonville, Florida, Glen topped runner-up, Ashley Graves, Production Manager at RiverCity Print & Imaging, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Glen was nominated by Ed Klimczak, owner of Model Printing Service. Ed said that after a heart attack that put him out of commission for over two months, Glen took over Ed’s responsibilities as general manager and “still maintained exceptional standards as production manager.”

In his nominating letter Ed continued, “As most businesses we are watching our budget closely. We have not replaced our 2nd CSR since she left last year. Glen has stepped up and fills in this position on a regular basis. He also is lead pressman on our Heidelberg SpeedMaster 74, and does whatever is necessary to get the jobs out on time.

Production Manager of the Year award to Glen
Klimczak, Model Printing Service, Alpena, Michigan

“Glen has shown outstanding leadership by enlisting the cooperation of the whole staff to perform their jobs to the utmost of their ability, and maintain top quality. I am very proud of Glen and appreciate him taking over to allow me to have the time I needed for recovery. Even though I am back full time, Glen has continued to assume more responsibilities so that I can spend my time generating sales.”

Ashley Graves PM of Year Runner Up

Scott and Jane Levine, RiverCity Print & Imaging, Little Rock, Arkansas, nominated Ashley for CPrint® Production Manager of the Year. After starting as CSR at RiverCity Ashley has now started her third year as production manager.

The nominating letter states, “Ashley is the epitome of a Production Manager, as she truly makes and meets all customer commitments. If she puts her name on it, it better be right and it better be on time. She uses the Five Tools of Production Management religiously. We never have to worry about how our shop is being run when we are away.

Without Ashley as our Production Manager, winning an unprecedented five "2/20&15" CPrint® awards would not have been possible. Her skills as Production Manager allow us to focus on running and growing our business.” .

Like every other production function in the shop, the production manager needs to have a basic understand of the duties and tasks in the Prepress Department so he or she can management more effectively. John Giles, CPrint® Technical Director (above) outlined the basic skill set required by the PM to understand the prepress function and where to get the necessary training.

During the Production Training Conference in Jacksonville, Florida, John also spoke about PDFs and what a production manager needs to know about them.

President Todd presented Julia Wright, Tri-State Printing, Hagerstown, Maryland, her “prize” from the CPrint® STUFF Collection.
