"The attorney for the Saints told me we were in violation of several things, so we changed the Fleur de Lis . She was very nice and did not tell me that we have to stop production. It seems the biggest problem is the word SUPERBOWL and WHO DAT. "
"As far as signs go; CRAZY! WE sold over $3,200 worth today alone. So far I figure over $7000.00 in sales. I am leaving now to deliver 60 to one person. We have orders not yet filled for Monday. Got to go . . . Debbie is yelling for me to go to work."
From business to being a fan: Last weekend Kevin and Debbie were staying in the New Orleans French Quarter looking for a place to watch the Super Bowl where the kids would be welcome and the party would not be so wild that they could actually watch the game.
Kevin said, "I called a few rental places on Bourbon Street and was quoted $8000 for a room that would hold 50 people. You got the room from 5 pm until 10 pm and had to buy all drinks and food from the landlord. Another guy wanted $2800 for a room that would hold 30 people. So we found a nice restaurant for $50 per person and a cash bar. We would have to share the space with other fans. That sounded reasonable.
Yesterday afternoon I had to go and meet with a client at his hotel and had a few minutes to kill so I stopped in the hotel bar to grab a beer. I started talking to the bar manager and told him this would be a great place for a Super Bowl party. The bar opened up to a covered and heated courtyard with lush plants, trees and a beautiful fountain. I asked how much to rent the bar for the game. He asked how many people, 40-60, I said. He told me it’s yours. All you have to do is buy drinks. $3 for beer and $5 to $7 for drinks. What about food I asked; bring your own he replied. But you only have one 52” TV I said. I’ll go and buy a second one, he answered. What if we spill over into the courtyard? I’m closing the courtyard. It’s yours. What about rooms for three nights? We are sold out but I will make arrangements for you to have two rooms.
Only in the Big easy. Go Saints, WHO DAT!
Schools are closed on Monday and there is a parade on Tuesday. Most businesses are closing Monday and possibly Tuesday depending on the time of the parade. Win or lose it will be pandemonium.
Debbie and I are going to be featured on the front page of our local newspaper on Thursday. They are doing a story on how small businesses are leveraging the Saint’s success into profitable business and how in a bad economy small companies are doing what is necessary to keep afloat"
Let's hope Kevin, Debbie and family are still having one big party on Monday and Tuesday!
